The Eastern Region Co-coordinating Council has promised the people of Kwahu that it will reintroduce the Paragliding Festival and male it sustainable.


The festival, which has been integrated into the Easter festivities, could not be staged this year due to financial reasons, thus disappointing a lot of people who trooped to the area at the week end purposely to witness the gliders fly.

In the past, it brought together seasoned gliders from various parts of the world such as Australia, France, the South Africa, who took off from a launching pad on top of the odwen

Anoma Mountain at Atibie to encircle in the sky for some time before landing at Nkawkaw.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said a lot of money had to be secured for the organization of the festival to cater foe the traveling and other expenses of the gliders and his administration would soon come our with a modality for its sustenance.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo gave the assurance when he addressed a durbar to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the installation of Nana Atuobi Yiadm1v, the chief of Nkwatia, and pledged that the festival would be organized bezr year.

Throwing more light on how to secure funding for the festival, he said the Regional coordinating council would be collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, the district assemblies in the Kwahu area, as well as other stakeholders, in that respect.

He, therefore, called on all stake-holders to play the roles expected of them for the sustenance of the festival.
